Translating the energy transition into maritime reality.
Globe Marine Advisory is an independent maritime consultancy founded by Dr Tamara Topic, a PhD-qualified naval architect and engineer with 25+ years of hands-on experience across maritime decarbonisation, zero-emission technology, regulatory policy, and innovation funding.
We work at the point where emerging clean energy technologies meet the practical realities of maritime operations — translating complex innovation into actionable strategies, compliance frameworks, and investment decisions for shipowners, offshore operators, energy companies, and industry bodies.
Our advisory work spans the full energy transition value chain: from hydrogen fuel cell propulsion design and CCUS infrastructure, to LNG regulatory policy, digital transformation, and innovation funding bids. We have contributed to IMO and EU regulatory frameworks, engaged the European Commission on regulatory policy, and authored over £1.7M in successful UKRI and EU Horizon funding proposals.
What makes Globe Marine Advisory distinctive is the combination of deep technical credibility — built through PhD research, landmark engineering approvals, and direct regulatory engagement — with the practical commercial experience of advising C-suite executives at major shipping companies, cruise lines, and offshore operators on real investment decisions.
Globe Marine Advisory works with clients on a project basis, in consortium bid leadership roles, and as an independent technical advisor — available for both short-term engagements and longer-term strategic partnerships.

Landmark hydrogen propulsion approval — co-led MW-scale Ceres Power SOFC fuel cell design for a major global cruise operator; secured Lloyd’s Register Alternative Design Approval, establishing an industry precedent for large-scale hydrogen maritime propulsion.
IMO and EU regulatory engagement — contributed directly to IMO MEPC methane abatement guidelines adopted internationally, and engaged the European Commission during regulatory negotiations on LNG and alternative fuel policy — bringing the operational perspective of the global fleet into the regulatory process.
£1.7M+ in innovation funding authored — successfully led UKRI Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition, InnovateUK, and EU Horizon proposals across hydrogen propulsion, CCUS infrastructure, and zero-emission maritime technology.
AI platform deployed for major offshore fleet — led digital transformation working directly with leading AI and data platform companies to design and deploy predictive maintenance and emissions monitoring across a 40+ vessel offshore support fleet.
CCUS and CO2 infrastructure feasibility — led technical analysis of non-pipeline CO2 transportation by ship for a major UK industrial decarbonisation programme, contributing to the evidence base for CCUS-enabled hydrogen supply chains.
